The research problem and the rationale for its relevance. The promotion of professional self-determination of a schoolchild is seen as an educational task and a type of pedagogical activity of a teacher. The difficulties of teachers in implementing this type of activity in educational practice are described. The problem of selection of psychological and pedagogical knowledge important for realization of assistance to professional self-determination and determination of ways of its representation in additional professional programs is updated. The goal of research is pedagogical substantiation of the significant content of education in the field of assistance to professional self-determination of schoolchildren and ways of its presentation within the limits of development of additional educational programs focused on elimination of professional shortages of teachers of comprehensive schools is defined. The results of the literature review are presented, demonstrating the interest of researchers and the effectiveness of the strategy of psychological and pedagogical support of professional self-determination, which may be applicable in the activities of teachers of general education schools. The lack of publications is noted, in which the investigated is presented in the form of complex purposeful activity, including a description of appropriate methodological support. Methodology. The research methodology is presented, which allows to reveal the role of psychological and pedagogical knowledge for the formation of positive subjective position of teachers and the attitude to master strategies to promote professional self-determination of schoolchildren. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the substantiation of the significance of psychological and pedagogical knowledge in the mastering by teachers of general education schools of strategies to promote professional self-determination of schoolchildren. The description of elements of additional educational programs reflecting psychological and pedagogical bases of such kind of pedagogical activity as assistance to professional self-determination of schoolchildren represents practical significance.
