The article attempts to assess the role of the formed psychological and pedagogical competence in the professional development of a foreign language teacher teaching cadets of a military school. The work reflects such aspects of the topic as consideration of the essence of psychological and pedagogical competence; definition of its content; applicability of the above mentioned competence in the implementation of professional tasks of a foreign language teacher of a military educational organization. As a result, the potential of psychological and pedagogical competencies in the formation of a specialist who is ready to teach a foreign language to cadets of a military school is revealed.
