The article examines the role of students' independent work in teaching a foreign language. The author of the article focuses special attention on the fact that independent work is a very effective means of teaching a foreign language, but subject to a number of conditions. Next, the author reveals what the goals and objectives are when performing independent work. In conclusion, it is noted that the success of independent work depends directly on the correctness of its organization and the fulfillment of all requirements, both on the part of the student and the teacher.
