Transgenerational transmission of family history is one of the pivotal factors influencing personality development. The phenomenon of transgenerational transmission of psychological trauma has received much scholarly attention. However, considerably less research has been done to identify transgenerational factors affecting the psychological well-being and personal anxiety levels. This paper explores the relationship among family history (transgenerational factors), personal anxiety, and psychological well-being of the personality. The authors have hypothesized that the levels of psychological well-being and personal anxiety are determined by the degree of individuals’ knowledge of their family history and the quality of the emotional ties between family members over three generations. The research demonstrates statistically significant results.
