Part taken by the demonstrative pronoun in expressing spatial relations in Rutul and English languages

The paper presented a description of features expressing spatial relations in both the Rutul and English languages by means of the demonstrative pronoun. The language data collated has revealed that the distance may be determined with a demonstrative pronoun in Rutul language from the point of view of the speaker, whereas demonstrative pronouns in English differentiate the spatial location of an item or person relative to a reference point.
