The study deals with the structure of the communicative space of the city and its relationship with a set of roles of the modern individual. The emphasis is placed on the importance of the person's social roles in structuring the communicative urban space. A set of social roles of the individual is considered as one of the main determinants of communicative space segmentation. The author discusses three main components of the communicative space: the private sphere, the formal sphere, and the sphere of third places. Each of these areas is compared with the corresponding social roles. The research determines the temporal (day of the week, holidays, and weekdays) and spatial (location) factors that have an impact on the actualization of social urban roles. The study notes the role of identity and the ingroup/outgroup mechanism in the construction of urban roles.
