Russia in the global gas market: challenges and prospects (energy security issues)

The article presents the results of a study of energy security issues related to the participation of the Russian Federation in the development of the global gas market. The processes of development of the European gas market and the formation of a network of main gas pipelines are analyzed. Data on the density of gas transportation infrastructure in the EU countries are analyzed. Data on LNG exports by producing countries are presented, as well as indicators characterizing the structure of gas imports in international trade by type of supply. The prerequisites for the return of long-term contracts for the supply of gas (including liquefied gas) on the world market have been identified. Promising areas of cooperation between the Russian Federation and Qatar in terms of joint development of the world market of natural gas and its processed products are presented.
