The article describes the current state of the spiritual sphere and cultural life of Ukraine, which is based on Russophobia. An attempt is made to identify its origins, the objective and subjective factors that ensured the spread of this phenomenon are revealed. The paper uses a comparative research method. Based on the analysis of domestic and foreign sources, the author concludes that Russophobia as a biased, hostile, hostile attitude towards Russia and the Russian people has its roots deep into the centuries and is not just a product of neo-Nazi forces that came to power in Ukraine. The article substantiates that the narratives in the formation of modern spiritual life and cultural policy of Ukraine are a mythologeme, the essence of which is that throughout history, Russia and Russians have been the source of all difficulties and troubles of the Ukrainian people. The author reveals the inconsistency of the political and ideological idiom about the "fraternal union of the Russian and Ukrainian peoples", which was launched by Soviet ideologists into propaganda circulation in the middle of the last century and did not correspond to reality. The article concludes with conclusions and suggestions on finding ways to reconcile and establish good-neighborly cooperation, including in the field of culture, after the elimination of the Russophobic regime in Ukraine.
