The publication is a translation of an article written by a modern German historian Gerd Stricker, the author of a compendium of materials and documents on the history of the Russian Orthodox Church during the Soviet era. In his new work is presented in a concise form the history of Russian Orthodoxy among emigrants. The author cites the works of German historians, analyzes primary sources, gives archival information and statistics. The article is interesting primarily because it gives an opportunity to see the “faith of emigrants” through the eyes of a person of other cultural values. The translation is preceded by an introduction characterizing the views of German historians on the Russian Orthodox emigration.
