The purpose of the article is to trace the evolution of the dialog from the Russian criminal novel to the Soviet police novel and further to the post-Soviet police novel. The obligatory subjects of dialogue in the russian crime novel are investigator, criminal and witness. The theme of dialogue is usually related to crime and investigation. In form, most of the dialogues are surveys and interrogations. Novel raznorechiye and heteroglossia are not obligatory here. The position of the characters is mostly manifested in monologue. The evolution of the dialog from the Russian criminal novel through the Soviet police novel to the post-Soviet novel is as follows. The Soviet police novel retains all the dialog subjects of the Russian criminal novel, but adds colleagues, members of criminal organizations, and characters unrelated to the crime and investigation. In the post-Soviet police novel, the criminal cop, characters in high positions, real historical persons also become the subjects of dialogue. In addition to the themes that were in the Russian crime novel, current events become the themes of dialogue here, as well as themes unrelated to crime and investigation. The position in the dialog evolves with an obligatory appeal to the parable in both the Soviet and post-Soviet police novel. The author of the article concludes that in the process of evolution, dialog has come to play a crucial role in creating the edifying sense of the entire work; it is the lines of parable character that often conclude the Soviet and post-Soviet police novel.
