Russian version of the parental stress scale: results of the initial assessment of internal reliability and validity

The phenomenon of parental stress is often the focus of attention of modern researchers, as it can act as a factor in the effectiveness of educational practices. Tools for assessing the severity of parental stress have prognostic value, but they are insufficient. The article presents the results of the analysis of using the J.O. Berry and W.H. Jones Parental Stress Scale (PSS) questionnaire, the description of the adaptation process and the results of the primary assessment of the internal reliability and validity of its Russian version on the Russian-language sample. Psychometric assessment was carried out on a sample of 265 parents (M = 37,19, SD = 6,69). The adapted version of the PSS shows an acceptable level of reliability: the points of the integral scale are consistent (Cronbach's alpha = 0,881), the questionnaire items have moderate positive correlations with the total score. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis prove the four-factor structure proposed by the authors. The prospects for further work with the questionnaire are determined.
