The study examines the formation of existential discourse as an important component of post-classical thinking. The ideas of Kierkegaard and Heidegger represent the key concept of philosophizing, which proceeds from factual conditioning, internal experience and interested questioning, aimed at clarifying a specific subjectivity. Kierkegaard’s concept of Christian religiosity reveals the specifics of religious consciousness and possibility of overcoming fear and despair by understanding the essence of these phenomena in an existential-ontological context. Kierkegaard’s philosophically reflexive solutions actively influenced subsequent thought strate gies that defend the priority of concreteness, eventfulness in the formation of knowledge and understanding of the nature of things. Heidegger’s existential analysis productively develops the intellectual resource of non-classical thought of the 19th century. The existentials of fear, despair, and guilt introduced by Kierkegaard in Heidegger’s concept are actively used to form critical thinking on the way to achieving the authenticity of Dasein, which is revealed in itself, fixing the need for existential involvement in philosophizing itself, determining the personal factor of cognition process.
