The spiritual and moral crisis and the resulting exacerbation of environmental problems make it necessary to find new mechanisms for the formation of ecological culture. For the Abkhazian society, one of such mechanisms may be the sacralization of natural objects in traditional religion. In the process of historical development, sacralization receives a new form, moving from the status of primary religious belief to the status of a full-fledged ecological tradition, while acquiring social and cultural aspects. It is precisely the ecological tradition, as an important element of environmental consciousness, that should help to establish an ecological culture. This determines the relevance of studying the phenomenon of natural object sacralization as a mechanism for shaping the ecological culture of Abkhazian society. The experience of communicating with nature and the ancestral rules for interacting with it should serve as the basis for regularization of relations today.
