Personal self-actualization of the chief police officers of territorial district bodies of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs during development counseling

Introduction. The research attempted is relevant due to the increasing efficiency of professional training of chief officers of territorial law enforcement bodies which requires some measures to improve and optimize psychological work within professional and personal development. The author suggests using the technology of development counseling of chief law enforcement officers for systematic professional and personal growth. The research aims to identify significant links among personal factors of chief law enforcement officers of district territorial organs during development counseling. Мaterials and Methods. The author's hypothesis of development counseling influence on the enhanced self-actualization of a chief officer, changing structure of life orientations and existential personality was tested on the sample of 166 day department officers studying at the Russian MIA Academy of Management at the faculty of training chief officers of the district territorial bodies of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. For the empirical research the following methods were used: A. N. Lazukin method of self-actualization of person adapted by N.F.Kalin, D.A. Leontyev test “Life Orientations”, A.Langle method of the Existence Scale. Results and Discussion. The empirical research was conducted, its results described via technology of development counseling for the district chief police officers of the territorial organs of the Russian MIA. The supposition that during development counseling the statistical significant changes according to the self-actualization scale would take place was not proved. However, the qualitative changes in the personal structure of the chief police officer were revealed. Under analysis are theoretical and methodical views of the national and foreign authors concerning the development counseling and personal self-actualization of the chief law enforcement officer. Conclusions. The author suggests using the development counseling with regard to self-actualization, life orientations and existential, its specifics in psychological work with the district chief police officers of the territorial organs of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
