Students’ independent work in a higher school: use of distance learning technology

The article discusses the features of the distance learning technology in the field of organization of students’ independent work in a higher school. The importance of the distance technology as a component of the information and communication technologies in the context of informatization of education is underlined. The author shows possibilities of optimization of the students' independent work with the help of the given technology by case study of “English as a Foreign Language" course.
