The article examines the history of agricultural schools in the provinces of European Russia, their activities to disseminate rational knowledge among peasants during the Stolypin reform. The role of these educational institutions in raising the level of agrarian culture is analyzed. It is noted that the influence on the agricultural culture of the European provinces was carried out, firstly, in the course of training personnel for the implementation of the tasks of the Stolypin reform, and, secondly, in the process of active translation of agricultural and scientific knowledge into the peasant environment. As a result of educational activities, changes took place in the village: the yield of grain increased, the structure of crops changed, there was a transition from three-field to scientifically grounded crop rotations, the use of improved tools of labor began, a turn towards rational agriculture was carried out.
