Semantics of temporal transformations in the D. Hodrova’s works

The article examines the functioning of the category of time in the D. Ho-drova’s works. The first half of the article presents an analysis of time in the theoretical works of the researcher (“In Search for the Novel”, “The Sensible City, etc.). In the works of Godrova theorist, one can identify several key concepts for characterizing time, such as “movement of the novel,” “border,” “internal and external time.” Fundamentally important, in our opinion, is the question of distinguishing between “internal” and “external” time in the novel, as well as the functioning of what Hodrova calls “eternal time”. Hodrova’s “eternal time” takes place only in “places of mystery,” which essentially function as heterotopias. In the second part of the article, these aspects are examined in relation to Hodrova’s artistic creativity. Hodrova’s novels represent a complex postmodern narrative, initiation novels, the key theme of which can be called the problem of memory (individual and/or collective). The article highlights three basic principles for constructing a memory narrative: violation of the logical presentation of the sequence of events in order to create a special timelessness in the work, violation of the syntactic and grammatical structure of sentences to focus attention on the act of writing, and the motive of initiation. Hodrova also considers time not only as a convention of artistic reality, but also as the subject of the work. Time-subject in the works turns out to be involved in a postmodern philosophical game. HodTova thus experiments with time, trying to penetrate its eschatological essence and bring time back to itself.
