The article is devoted to the identification and description of the semantic and functional features of odoric vocabulary in the Khakass language. The semantic vocabulary nest with the general meaning «to smell» is represented by only seven tokens with a common root чыс «1) smell; 2) the stink». The semantic structure of these lexemes contains an indication of the smelling instrument (nose), the quality of the smell object, as well as the subjective-emotional nature of the action. On the lexico-syntagmatic representation of the sign «smell» in the semantics of the verbs чыста- «smell; inhale» and чыстан- «1) to smell; 2) stink» imposed evaluation criteria (good or bad smell). In relation to animals and animals, the olfactory process is expressed by phrase combinations чыс тарт- «sniff; letters. attract the smell» and чыс хап- «smell; smell on the track; letters. grab the smell». The second phrase in the position of the subject involves a predatory animal or beast. The semantics of the complex verbs of пура сап- «harshly smell bad» and чыстан пар- «rotten and give off fetid smell» contain a common sign “sharp fetid smell” and there is an indication of its source.
