The paper analyzes gender roles in the modern family in the context of global transformations of society. The globalization of social reality and structural transformations in the economy, both in our country and abroad, have led to changes in the meaning and functions of family relations, intra-family gender roles, and the family division of domestic labour. In the modern family, including the Russian one, there is a gradual departure from established ideas about family-gender roles. By the end of the XX century, political and socio-economic transformations, which led not only to the social stratification of society, but also to the appeal of the Russian population to the world standards of gender equality, determined the formation of such models of the distribution of gender roles as neo-patriarchal/sponsor, egalitarian ones. It is concluded that the model of relations in the family, reflecting the traditional view of the role of husband and wife, today does not correspond to the real socio-economic state of society. The increased promotion of alternative forms of family relations in the media has led to the destruction of established stereotypes about gender roles. The results of the research presented in the article can be used to expand the understanding of gender roles, as well as the factors that influence their transformations. The material presented in the article can be used in educational practice when creating special social philosophical courses.
