Marital status of addicted patients in Khanty-Mansiysk

Epidemiological study of alcoholism and drug addiction in the North of Siberia retains its high relevance because of their high prevalence and negative social consequences. Level of overall addictions morbidity in the Khanty- Mansi Autonomous Okrug has exceeded the national average by almost 2 times. The analysis of the parental family and the own marital status of addicted patients in Khanty-Mansiysk was carried in this paper. Material and methods. We examined 236 patients with newly diagnosed substance abuse and addiction (alcoholism, drug addiction, substance abuse), aged 18 to 60 years. The study excluded patients with comorbid psychiatric diagnosis. The survey using a standardized card for clinical examination of the patient with addiction was conducted. Results. Analysis of the parental family and marital status of the addicted patients - citizens of Khanty-Mansiysk has shown that they have lower rates of marriage than people in the Khanty- Mansi Autonomous Okrug as a whole. The proportion of divorces among female patients was significantly higher than that of men. Conclusion. Comparative analysis of patients of various age groups has shown that proportion of unmarried and divorced among patients tends to equalize while increasing age. This finding indicates a relatively high activity for marriage, but the fragility of marriages of persons with addiction. Analysis of alcoholic's marital status has shown a tendency to a lack of family relationships.
