The paper treats iconicity in poetic text as a specific textforming category that can be used in text interpretation. Iconicity shows strong relationships with visuality and is widely used to embody meanings and ideas that exist only as visual images and have to be backed up by symbolic meanings. Thus iconicity can be regarded as a tool in text comprehension.
