The present article examines the epistemological views of the representative of Russian religious philosophy - P.D. Yurkevich, based on the correlation of the physical and mental state of the individual. The emphasis is placed on the fact that it is the heart that is designated by the thinker as the source of all cognitive activities of the soul and is the organ of man's connection with God. The philosopher symbolically contrasts the heart with the head, which helps to realize the external phenomena of reality; the heart, according to the thinker, exists to understand the inner mental activity. The world as a whole living structure, filled with beauty, can only be cognized, according to P.D. Yurkevich, by the “deep heart”. The conclusion is that the main provisions of P.D. Yurkevich's philosophy are in harmony with the Russian philosophical tradition, in which cognition of integrity by irrational forms is the most important component.
