The article presents a selection of fictional works from the beginning of the 21st century that correspond to the main characteristics of the genre of fantastic school stories about "time travelers" into the Soviet past. These works allow for the analysis of various aspects of memory in the authors and "post-memory" (M. Hirsch) in the young characters of the stories. The ways in which the authors' cultural-historical memory is manifested in the novellas by T. Kryukova, A. Zhvalevsky, E. Pasternak, A. Remiz include the speech characteristics of the characters, including the use of Soviet-era terms, the emotional modality of depicting social behavior norms accepted in Soviet society in the 1980s, characterization of material and technical culture (clothing, objects, means of communication, etc.), social and geopolitical contexts. The analysis of the novellas has allowed us to establish that all authors combine two principles in depicting epochs: contrast and parallelism. Stereotypes and features of historical periods (the 1980s and the 2000s) are highlighted in contrast, as well as the differences between children in contemporary Russia and the Soviet Union. Parallelism is associated with the manifestation of eternal humanistic values (friendship, compassion, mutual assistance, justice) in the behavior of the characters, which are maintained in different historical and socio-cultural contexts and serve as a basis for building relationships and self-determination for teenage characters.
