Statement of the problem. The relevance of this study is due to the need to develop methods of syntactic analysis of the semantics of perception in a literary text, as well as the insufficient study of this semantics in the works of V.P. Astafyev. The methodological and theoretical basis of the study are the works in the field of semantic, constructive and relevant syntax of G.A. Zolotova, T.V. Shmeleva, and I.V. Bashkova. The main methods of research are linguistic and philological analysis of the fiction text, lexical and semantic analysis, structural and semantic analysis of a sentence. The purpose of the work is to identify the types of syntactic constructions representing olfactory perception in V.P. Astafyev’s novella The Last Bow and to show their role in building a textual perspective, in forming an individual author’s linguistic picture of the world. The results of the study showed that in V.P. Astafyev’s novella The Last Bow, olfactory perception is presented in the most detail in the stories The Smell of Hay and Somewhere the War is Rumbling. In the latter, the meaning of olfactory perception is important for the formation of the plot, and the semantics of smell has a text-forming meaning. The author is shown to use all types of propositional plans in the construction of the text: large, general, long-range, and offscreen; with the help of various syntactic constructions, he increases or decreases the communicative weight of the propositions of olfactory perception, thereby building a textual perspective. In addition, the significance of the semantics of olfactory perception is created by referring to precedent texts.
