Synthesis and structure of cis-[dichloro (triphenylphosphine)(diethylsulfoxido)platinum (II)]

The interaction of hexachloroplatinic acid and 2-butenyl-bis(triphenylphosphonium) chloride in acetonitrile in the presence of diethyl sulfoxide synthesized cis-[dichloro(triphenylphosphine)- (diethylsulfoxide) platinum(II)], cis-[PtCl2(SOEt2)(PPh3)] (1), the yield of which after recrystallization from triethylamine was 75 %. The product structure was determined by XRDA and IR. The X-ray diffraction pattern of crystal I was obtained at 293 K on an automatic diffractometer D8 Quest Broker (MoKα radiation, λ = 0.71073 Å, graphite monochromator), platinum atom in compound 1 has square-planar coordination [C22H25PCl2SOPt, M 634.44; the triclinic syngony, the symmetry group P1; cell parameters: a = 10.367(4), b = 10.416(4), c = 12.389(8) Å;  = 102.53 (3) degrees, β = 95.30 (3) degrees,  = 116.087(16) degrees; V = 1145.6 (9) Å3; the crystal size is 0.66 × 0.36 × 0.06 mm; intervals of reflection indexes 16 ≤ h ≤ 19, 18 ≤ k ≤ 19, 22 ≤ l ≤ 22; total reflections 25761; independent disclosures 21895; Rint 0.0299; GOOF 1.116; R1 = 0.0849; wR2 = 0.1705; residual electron density 6.52 /3.85 e/ Å3]. The chlorine atoms occupy two cis positions, being in the trans position with respect to the phosphine and sulfoxide ligands. Distance PtCl 2.315(5)2.367(7) Å is longer than PtPPh3 2.295(5) and PtS 2.230(4) Å. Cis-angles Cl(1)PtCl(2) equal 88.6 (3)°, S(1)Pt(1)Cl(2) 88.1(3)°, S(1)Pt(1)P(1) 92.13(17)°, Cl(1)Pt(1)P(1) 91.07(18)°, trans-angles equal S(1)PtCl(1) 175.3(2)°, Cl(2)Pt(1)P(1) 177.8(3)°.
