Synthesis and structure of tetraphenylantimony camphor-10-sulfonate

Tetraphenylantimony camphor-10-sulfonate solvate with benzene Ph4SbOSO2C10H15O [Ph4Sb]+[OSO2C10H15O]- 2PhH (1) has been obtained by interaction of equimolar quantities of pentaphenylantimony and camphor-10-sulfonic acid in benzene; then it has been structurally characterized. According to X-ray structural analysis performed at 293 K on an automatic four-circle diffractometer D8 Quest Bruker (two-coordinate CCD - detector, MoKα-radiation, λ = 0.71073 Å, graphite monochromator), crystal 1 has the following parameters: [C80H80O8S2Sb2, M 1479.07; triclinic syngony, symmetry group P-1; cell parameters: a = 10.545(13), b = 11.632(13), c = 31.59(2) Å; α = 80.24(3) deg., β = 80.73(3) deg., γ = 66.65(6) deg.; V = 3487(7) Å3; crystal size 0.42 × 0.24 × 0.23 mm; reflection index intervals - 13 ≤ h ≤ 13, -15 ≤ k ≤ 15, - 40 ≤ l ≤ 40; total reflections 106218; independent reflections 15316; Rint 0.1156; GOOF 1.129; R1 = 0.1301, wR2 = 0.3246; residual electron density 1.59/-3.29 e/Å3]. The tetraphenylantimony arenesulfonate molecules are present in the crystal, in which the antimony atoms have a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination with the carbon and oxygen atoms in axial positions (the CSbO angle is 178.1(5)|, the Sb-O distance is 2.495(12) Å), along with the tetrahedral tetraphenylstibonium cations, the camphor-10-sulfonate anions, and the solvating molecules of benzene. The Sb-C and S-O bond lengths in molecule 1 vary in intervals of 2.071(18)-2.124(17) Å and 1.449(13)- 1.485(12) Å. The tetrahedral tetraphenylstibonium cations are slightly distorted [the CSbC angles are 99.0(6)-119.0(6), the Sb-C distances are 2.088(14)-2.175(17) Å], the S-O bonds in anions are 1.425(13)-1.476(11) Å. The structural organization in crystal 1 is caused by weak intermolecular contacts of the S=O…H-C type (2.34-2.68 Å).
