Synthesis of 6- {[methyl(phenyl)amino]methyl}-2-thiouracil derivatives as novel potential HIV-1 reverse transcriptase inhibitors

A series of novel 2-thiouracil derivatives containing 2-arylmethyl and 2-phenacyl groups at sulfur atom and [methyl(phenyl) amino]methyl group at position 6 was synthesized. Physicochemical and spectral properties of the synthesized compounds were studied. The obtained compounds are considered as a novel group of non-nucleoside HIV-1 reverse transcriptase inhibitors.
