Values system as a subject of scientific research

The article examines the existing approaches to the definition of the concepts of «values» and «value system». The author reveals the dual nature of the value system is revealed, manifested in its objective-subjective nature. The correlation of the individual and the public in the system of personality values is determined. The main research directions of the «value system» category in philosophy, pedagogy, psychology, sociology, linguistics, history and political science are considered. Purpose the paper considers the concepts of «values» and «value system» and studies the category of «value system» as a subject of scientific knowledge. The basis of the research is the general scientific dialectical approach, as well as special methods: cultural-historical, comparative, functional, descriptive. The results of the study are that the author describes the dual nature of the value system and determines the relationship between the individual and the public in the value system. The author analyzes approaches to the value system in various fields of scientific research.
