Social protection of families and children in the Buryat Republic: experience and problems of functioning

The development of family and children social protection system in the Buryat Republic was described in the article. For a long time the social protection of families and children was an integral part of the Buryat Republic general social protection system. In 2007 The Republican agency on affairs of family and children was established as a part of the Buryat Republic executive authorities. The agency performed the functions of state policy implementation in the sphere of prevention family problems and children neglect, protection their legitimate rights and interests, custody and guardianship, social support and social services for families and children, recreation and recovery of children in difficult situations. During the period of functioning The Republican agency on affairs of family and children a number of substantial problems were accumulated. One of these problems was the effectiveness of managing the system of families and children social protection in the Buryat Republic. The authority had decided to reorganize the agency by joining of the Buryat Republic Ministry of Social Protection. The Committee on affairs of family and children was established as a part of Ministry.
