System of training sessions in the process of professional development of foreign language teachers

The system of postgraduate pedagogical education is currently being transformed due to trends towards differentiation and personification of additional professional education, which would take into account teachers’ attitudes, preferences, professional value orientations, and «working» motivators of activity. In this case, a deficit approach can be considered as a fundamental methodology, the essence of which is the priority focus on eliminating specific actual professional deficits of teachers (subject, methodological, psychological and pedagogical, in the field of information and communication technologies). Therefore, the priority task is to create a scientific and educational landscape and a set of organizational and pedagogical conditions for a reasonable choice by teachers of individual trajectories of their professional and personal development, providing continuous and high-quality professional education. The results of monitoring the professional deficits of teachers of foreign languages in St. Petersburg indicate the need to update the programs of additional professional education through the inclusion of modules aimed at eliminating their methodological and subject deficits. One of the options for implementing the content of such modules is the introduction of training sessions.The purpose of the article is to determine the status of the training method in the professional development of teachers of foreign languages and to describe the methodological and technological aspects of the implementation of training sessions. The author pays special attention to identifying the advantages and disadvantages of the training system and training techniques and leveling possible problems in its implementation. Training is considered as a form of interactive learning based on group activity, the target dominant of which is to form the competence of interpersonal and professional behavior in communication, and the training session as a learning cycle based on the use of training techniques. Two training sessions were described using training techniques: workshop, film training, communication training, project training.
