The article examines the history of the formation of the Nordic walking as an independent health-improving physical activity. Also, useful properties, contraindications, as well as the technique for implementing the Scandinavian walking are subject to consideration. Nordic walking is a popular type of physical activity based on a certain technique of movement with the help of special sticks, which in their appearance resemble ski poles. The benefits of walking have been repeatedly proven and undeniable, however, the technique also has its limitations, which are associated with the intensity and dosing of loads in the presence of various diseases, therefore, it needs to be consulted by a doctor before starting such training.
