The study of the features of the poetical translation of Pushkin’s tale made by the native speakers of the original and the target language. Statistical comparison of the original and translations, identification of antonymic pairs and events in 3 texts, comparison of vocabulary and poetic rhythms, stylistic features, and prosody of texts. Neither translation can reproduce all the textual features of the source text, because the mere fact of writing text in another language shows a discrepancy with the original, and therefore only the source text rewritten in the same language can be a “perfect” translation; but even then it will not have the originality of the source text. So, when choosing certain poetical tools, the translator sacrifices others. The lexical, phonetic and grammatical comparison of the original and the translation is supplemented by a semantic juxtaposition. The content of the Tale of the Golden Cockerel is certainly set forth adequately in both translations. However, a more detailed analysis should reveal what the emphasis is on in the development of the plot, how the characteristics of the characters are reflected in the translation, what central events form the framework of the tale. An attempt at such an analysis includes the identification of events and their comparison in the original text and in translations.
