The article is devoted to the study of the development of fairy-tail therapy as one of the modern schools of practical psychology. Reveals the phased development of the theoretical apparatus and complex forms of work. Considers the peculiarities of formation of fairy-tail therapy at each stage of its development. Explores the contribution of oral folklore, folklorists, ethnographers, anthropologists, philologists. Emphasis on the works of V.J. Propp, like the first, is devoted to the analysis of fairy tales and Z. Freud, as first used the tale as an instrument of psychological work. Examines the current state of fairy-tail therapy, a wealth of new applications and the diversity of approaches to the method in the work of psychologists. In particular, compares the opinions of representatives of the major schools of fairy-tail therapy on the principles of its use in practical work. A brief overview of the main applications of fairy-tail therapy in solving psychologist applied tasks of professional activity.
