This article explores the biography of Ene Geldyeva (1906–1993), a significant 20th-century Turkmen public figure whose name remains underrepresented in modern historical accounts. The work examines key phases of her life, framing them as a reflection of the profound social and political changes in Turkmenistan during the Soviet era, particularly the emancipation of women in the East and their integration into state-building efforts. It details Geldyeva’s remarkable journey from a challenging childhood in a low-income family and a forced marriage to active public and political involvement. Special attention is given to her participation in the meeting of advanced collective farmers in the Kremlin on December 4, 1935. During this meeting, she courageously articulated the problems faced by the rural population directly to the highest leadership of the USSR, including I. Stalin. The article highlights the swift official response to her address, which resulted in crucial material and technical assistance for the Farap district. Furthermore, an analysis of photographic and video evidence has helped correct a common historical inaccuracy. This article aims to restore Ene Geldyeva’s name to historical prominence by offering a comprehensive analysis of her life as a vital component of Turkmenistan’s history.
