Cross-cutting multidisciplinary project as a technology of a future engineer's competency emergence and development

The tremendous growth of innovations and rapid renewal of technologies in leading industries caused by the implementation of "digital economy" programmes by developed countries has intensified the interest of pedagogical science in the processes of emergence and development of future engineers' professional competency. The authors believe that the method of cross-cutting interdisciplinary projects providing the most thorough integration of science, education and production can contribute to the efficiency of these processes. The study revealed the pedagogical potential of a cross-cutting interdisciplinary project as a personality-oriented technology. A model of emotional-intellectual interaction between a future engineer and an instructor within such a project development is offered. It is found that the mastery of a future engineer's professional competency in a higher education institution is determined by the pedagogical strategies such as "orientation", "initiation", "multiplication" and "enrichment".
