The ‘loose’ hero in the literature and criticism of the 1850s: the abortive hero of time

The article is examining the loose hero, the literary character, which is frequent in the fiction of the 1850s, contains a detailed analysis of the process of development of this character, describing deviance because of which it does not become the literary type and the hero of time. The literary criticism of various ranks has become the basis of this investigation: critical papers, yearly reviews of literature, texts allocated in the bibliographical sections of journals. We study the critical papers by N. G. Chernyshevsky Russian on the Rendez-Vous, P. V. Annenkov The Literary Type of the Poor Man and writings by M. F. de Pule, M. A. Antonovich and other critics of second-third line. This article lays on investigations by A. A. Faustov and S. V. Savinkov of the characterology of Russian Literature of the XIXth century. The analysis of specified materials gives a chance to conclude the loose hero enters in Russian Literature in the beginning of 1850s. By analogy with the superfluous man he is moved forward by writers and critics on the role of the new hero of time. However, the often reproducible character does not become a literary type: in the process of its development some deviances occur. The first stage in the formation of the new type consists of the accumulation of nouns-descriptions, in the storage of words usage with language. In 1851-1854s the contour of the loose hero and the its plot are formed.
