“Traces” of the author in the document text, or the problem of pragmatic text analysis

The article touches upon the issue of the pragmatic text analysis, one of the most urgent task for the documentary linguistics. The study offers an algorithm of pragmatic analysis and its usage for the text of regulation. The initial premise is that the author can reveal themselves directly at the level of vocabulary and indirectly through the choice of forms of intentional categories and text structuring. The algorithm of the analysis includes the following steps: 1) to characterize participants of verbal communication; 2) to define the document intention by the name of the document type, by the nature of a genre-forming performative, by speech-act intentions of statements forming the text and by modal meanings; 3) to define a kind of evaluation a) as an authors attitude to reality, b) as a manifestation of the authors intentions; 4) to study intentional grammatical categories: person, tense, evidentiality, aspect and voice. Its aim is to answer the question: why does the author set his/her choice on the particular category form; 5) to study the text structure. The ways to apply this algorithm to the prescriptive and descriptive texts differ. The algorithm of pragmatic analysis of a document is to define means of representing authors intentions so that to specify them.
