Verbal mimicry as a kind of verbal magic

Statement of the problem. Verbal magic has always been one of the main tools for shaping and transforming the human world throughout history. Today it appears primarily in religious rhetoric, commercial advertising and political propaganda. Modern Russian official discourse is often based on the use of Soviet verbal symbols, filled, however, with a qualitatively different content. The purpose of the study is to identify and analyze transmuted Soviet verbal symbols in Russian official speech communication. Traditional research methods: semantic-stylistic, comparative, contextual, and discursive. Research results. Consideration of a number of examples of word usage presented in the article from the Russian official propaganda discourse helps us to conclude about an active exploitation of Soviet verbal symbols. Today they are filled with completely different semantics than before. This way of using words may well be qualified as verbal mimicry.
