The paper is devoted to the study of the phenomena of word, language and communication in the philosophy of S.L. Frank, the Russian religious thinker of the spiritual renaissance period. The research aims to provide a complex analysis of the sociocultural foundations of language and communication, to reveal the essence and meaning of the category “we" in Frank’s social concept, to show the originality of the philosopher's views in the interpretation of actual philosophical and linguistic problems. The authors focus on the fundamental differences in the formulation and solution of communication problems between Western European philosophy and the Russian philosophical tradition, which asserts the deep metaphysical meaning of the word, inaccessible to simple logical analysis. The principle of the sob-ornost unity, a key category of Russian philosophy, explains S.L. Frank’s approach to the study of the nature of word, language and communication.
