Current need for renewal price wars in the Russian polyethylene market

This article is devoted to brand analysis of prices of imported Iranian low-pressure polyethylene for blow molding in the Russian Federation and identification of threats of possible loss of part of the HDPE market by SIBUR-Holding PJSC due to the high cost of domestic polyethylene. Polyethylene facilities in Russia were reviewed. Average monthly production volumes of blown polyethylene grades of PJSC SIBUR-Holding are shown. The economic effect of domestic processors was calculated in case of refusal to purchase Russian brands of polyethylene for blow molding. It was proposed to resume price wars in the polyethylene market to eliminate the threat of market loss by PJSC SIBUR-Holding.
