Archaeological excavations of kurgan 52 from the Peregruznoye I burial ground located in the Oktyabrsky district, Volgograd Region, discovered a skeleton of a 45-50 year old male on the bottom of grave 2, with his left forearm bones missing. Within this context the paper seeks to identify possible reasons why the male from grave 2, kurgan 52 of the Peregruznoye I burial ground, does not have forearm bones. This case was examined by interpreting the funerary rite, analyzing grave offerings as well as performing a paleopatholothical and X-ray examination of the left shoulder bone. The research established that the defect on the left shoulder bone is the result of a successful surgical operation on elbow disarticulation.
