Under the digital transformation of education, training of a new generation of employees for the leading national industries (railway transport, etc.) requires adequate methodological approaches and pedagogical models. Development of the foreign language communicative competence of future industry employees with the benefit of blended learning potential is one of the pressing issues of professional education. The paper aims to explore the prospects of blended learning models in teaching a foreign language at an industry-oriented ('railway') university. The advantages and models of blended learning are considered for this study. The most applicable models, i.e. "blended class" and "blended project" are specified through the existing practice in foreign language training. An integrative model (Station Rotation - Blended Project) is offered for introduction in an industry-oriented university. This model is characterised by sufficient versatility. A piece of experience in the implementation of this model for teaching English at Siberian State Transport University is discussed.
