Meaning of history as a problem of moral philosophy

The article analyzes the problem of the meaning of history from the standpoint of moral philosophy. The author shows the conditions under which there appeared a reflection on the ultimate meaning of history in the context of Western philosophy. The key concepts of Western philosophy, which influenced the emergence of the issue of the meaning of history are “revaluation of value” and “crisis of culture”. The article notes that the domestic discourse of meaning of history has a different character than the Western European rationalist thought. The author considers the historico-philosophical construction of Russian philosophers, in which there is justification of history. Spiritual quest of Russian philosophy is aimed at the discovery in common life it’s highest meaning that can send man to the spiritual ideal, transcending the organic imperfection of empirically given being. Comparing different systems of Russian philosophers, the author comes to the conclusion that they are all caused by a reflection on the moral nature of man and his historical existence, which is a typological feature of Russian philosophy, projected into the present.
