The article shows that the book “The Meaning of Life” outstanding Russian thinker E. N. Trubetskoy is a “canon” of Orthodox existentialism, covering the widest range of anthropological and theological issues. In the question of the meaning of life, Russian philosophers use the anagogic method as a way of discovering the ultimate eschatological meaning. E. N. Trubetskoy in his book synthesized the experience of studying the meaning of life, begun by F. M. Dostoevsky and continued by a number of classical authors. The structure of E. N. Trubetskoy's research is built on the basis of three main “nodes” of thought, in which a meaningful leap occurs - a kind of “initiation” of consciousness: the breaking of the “circle of samsara”, the revelation of Christ, the transformation of the mind and the “sophial” vision of the world in Eternity.
