Today, every third citizen of the Russian Federation owns a dog, some of them are purchased in private homes to protect the territory or by citizens for theoretical protection against an attack that poses a threat to the life and health of the citizen himself. Dogs actively carry out their protective function from year to year, but only for their owners it can face a fine or criminal liability for exceeding the limits of permissible self-defense. In the framework of this article, the author will try to demonstrate the whiteness of Russian legislation in the issue of conferring special status on dogs, as an instrument of civil self-defense, as well as the importance of its regulation and application potential.
