The collection of church antiquities in the drevlekhranilishche of the Monastery of Holy Trinity and St. Alexander of Nevsky. The history of creation, the structure and the fate: 1900s - 1930s

The beginning of a systematic study of the collection of antiquities and objects of great rarity in the Alexander Nevsky Lavra was started by S. G. Runkevich. In the book published a century later, on the 200th anniversary of the monastery, the author of this article not only gave an overview of the items in the Lavra sacristy, but also briefly mentioned the opening in 1910 of the Lavra Drevlekhranilishche (Ancient Repository). In 1997 and 2012, special studies on the history of the Ancient Repository based on archival documents were published. The main attention there, however, was paid to the events in the organisation of the museum, whereas consideration of specific items in the museum collection was not part of the concept. This article analyses ecclesiastical antiquities, preserved in the Ancient Repository. The author focuses on the origin of the items and the circumstances of their acquisition at Alexander Nevsky Lavra.
