Property as the embodiment of symbolic capital (on the example of the car)

In the article, property is considered as a thing that represents a symbol. Symbols constitute symbolic capital that an individual can use as resources to enhance its influence and prestige. The owner of the article is the subject of property relations, symbolic capital, which constitutes different objects of property (things, goods). At the same time, the property captures the essence of the individual to the extent that it makes the purchase according to your taste, because it is this choice of acquisitions provides him with a comfort zone. In addition, its influence on the installation in possession has provided the transformation of the economic system, with established consumer society. This changed attitude of individuals towards things, but also led to changes in their values and everyday life in general. The values and motives embodied in acquisitions, which as a litmus piece of paper reflects guidance in life. The tasks set in the article, aimed at solving problems of the impact of ownership on the process of constructing the “I” of man, his identity and social status. The author advances the idea that the purchased property can design the social status of the subject of consumption through simulation. The study which results are presented in the paper emphasize the relationship between the possession of property, by the example of the car, and the determination of its prestige and the social status of other actors in social space.
