Combination of negativism and movement disorders in exacerbation progress of catatonic and recurrent schizophrenia

Negativism is an obligatory symptom in the structure of the exacerbation of catatonic schizophrenia as well as during the worsening of attack of recurrent schizophrenia. Being evident at the initial stage of exacerbation progress in the combination with affective disorder, later on negativism influences verbal and motion activities. Such a consistency of progressive development in psychopathological semiotics allows supposing the existence of «biological starter», the clinical reflection of which is negativism phenomenon. The combination of negativism and movement disorders within the structure of exacerbation of schizophrenia is analyzed in the article. According to the obtained data, negativism is observed in affective, verbal and motor areas and appears to be a predictor of catatonic syndrome.
