Socialization of foreign students in conditions of education at the medical university

The article considers the phenomenon of foreign students’ socialization in higher educational institutions of Russia on the example of the Volgograd State Medical University. The article presents the factors influencing the process of foreign students’ socialization during their studies at universities of the Russian Federation. This article also reports the sources of difficulties in the socialization of foreign students in higher education of Russia. The article deals with the definition of the term “competence”. Key components of social competence and the role of professional socialization of foreign students are given in the article. The effectiveness of the organizational processes of socialization in the university can be judged by the degree of development of social competencies by overseas students. It is noted that today the Volgograd State Medical University has developed a program aimed at the adaptation of foreign students, providing psychological and pedagogical support, helping to build a professional perspective. The authors noted the fact that the optimal conditions for the assignment of professional values by students are created when implementing an educational model based on the principles of the intercultural dialogue. In conclusion the authors set the tasks of the further research on the issue of socialization and inculturation of foreign students at medical universities of Russia in conditions of educational migration. The authors note the necessity to study, particularly, the emotional socialization of foreign students.
