Social support for foster families in the Khorinsky district of the Republic of Buryatia (according to the survey results)

The paper discusses social support for foster families living in the Khorinsky district of the Republic of Buryatia. The measures of social support and information work carried out by the Department of social protection of the population are yielding results: there are more and more foster families. However, another problem is no less urgent - insufficient psychological and pedagogical support for foster families. The situation is particularly difficult in rural areas, due to the lack of qualified specialists. Meanwhile, the timely solution to psychological and pedagogical problems of foster children’s upbringing, assistance in creating a favorable atmosphere in foster families, and the provision of qualified assistance on these issues are important areas of social support. In addition, improving the professional competence of psychologists working in rural areas is an urgent problem.
